Long Time No Post

Wow, I can't believe it has been almost 6 years since I last posted to this site.
I guess I better do something about that! ;-)

The Bomb

New poem inspired by Poetry Thursday

The Bomb

North Korea has nukes
And we are mad
Mad that they have
The ability to kill like us

Mad that the axis of evil
Is even stronger now
Deadlier than ever
Without fear

But we have them, too
We have them on our farms
Hidden amongst the corn
Dung for our deathbed

We keep them because we must
We need them for protection
Insurance against a world
Who hates us

Without the bomb
They will bomb us
This is what we fear
What keeps our grip strong

Afraid to let go
Afraid to take the chance
Afraid to live free
Afraid to live

For Poetry Thursday

I came across a great poetry prompt resource called Poetry Thursday. They give you a new topic to write about every week. You then write a poem, post it on your blog/website, then put a link to it in the comment for the week's post. Great idea!
This week's idea is "whatever the heck you want"
Here is my contribution called "Thursday":

It's already Thursday and
I haven't written a poem all week
It's not like I haven't been inspired,
It's more that I don't want to be

Sometimes inspiration interrupts life
It pulls you out of your rut
When you would rather wallow
Cold and wet

That's been my week thus far
Far away from salvation
Shying away from the muse's hand outstreched
Needing to be alone in me

I hear her calling to me
And I cringe
I hear her whisper to me
And I cover my ears

My spirit hears her, too
My soul longs to reach out
And seeking escape by any means
It finds an open tear duct

Like a Dam bursting gently
Freedom comes suddenly
An angel brushes face softly
A hand reaches out slowly

It's Thursday
And I'm writing again

And the compass says...

I'm still trying to decide the format of this blog/podcast.
You would think that I would figure that out before actually starting it up, but that's kind of what I want this blog to be.

Open. Evolving. Honest.

I don't want it to be too produced and too well thought out. I need it to be an honest expression of who I am, what I believe, and the things I struggle with.

And right now I'm stuggling to find direction. How can I combine faith, poetry, the arts, and life into a neat compact little blog/podcast? See...I'm not even sure what it is!!! Heck, I'm not even sure if I'm going to keep this on Blogger or move it over to a brand new site! *sigh*

I think I like this....

P.S. It's my birthday!!!!!

Real Men of Genius - Eyes Closed Worshipper Guy

Heh, I found this while researching churches in the area.
New Life Church.
Good stuff...

New Beginnings

Welcome to "Will the Poet" a blog/podcast about poetry, faith, the arts, and how they all come together and rip each other apart at the same time.

I'll share my insights, your thoughts, and our struggles as Christians as we live the arts through our faith.

More to come soon.
